Have been trying to lower Nitrates with NP-Active Pearls with no luck. Two months no results, even tried different pumps to lower gph. Pearls simply wear down. Has anyone used bio pellets with any luck? What is best media for a reactor? Thinking going back to GFO but didn't have much luck there either. Have 90gl tank 2 tangs, 2 clown, dwarf angel

GFO won’t help nitrates, it is for phosphate removal. There is not really a chemical media that I know of that removes nitrates. You need biological filtration which can be accomplished by carbon dosing, but depending on your nitrate concentration water changes are often a better solution. Carbon dosing requires a lot of maintenance and can be dangerous to your coral health if not done correctly.

What is your Nitrate at now? What about phosphate? How often do you do water changes?

Nitrates 40ppm and phosphates .12ppm. Do 5 gal water change every week. Also been using NO3:pO4-X . Had a cyan outbreak few weeks ago as well. Tried some DrTims Waste-away which seems to have helped.
