Just curious if anyone else has experienced this.
IM20 running about a year. Had a bout with dinos a while back along with GHA. I have that pretty well taken care of but I'm still getting what looks like GHA covering the back wall and plastic powerheads. I'm not overly concerned since the rocks, corals and sand are clear. I think there are critters living in the algae because I see my sixline and fire shrimp foraging for food in the algae so I've just been vacuuming some algae out when I do WCs and not fretting over it.
I'm assuming the algae just thrives on the acrylic and plastic because nothing else is out competing it like beneficial bacteria. I'm working on trying to get GSP to out compete the algae but it's going slowly.
Would you take some kind of action or just keep vacuum like I have been and as long as it stays confined to the plastics or just accept it and let it provide a natural habitat for pods and such?
