Black long spined urchins will strip live rock of coralline, leaving nothing but white rock underneath. I cannot see how they are a welcome addition to any reef tank setup.

I tend to agree with Acroholic, if I were to add any Urchin to my tank it would be the Atlantic Pincushion variety "Lytechinus variegatus". They stay small and don't do much bulldozing if any at all.
