Nuking live rock with bleach

I have found quite a few threads about nuking live rock with bleach. I'm just wondering if anyone else has tried this and if so what was your process and what kind of results did you have with it

I have done this many times. I always do something like 50:50. I let it sit in the solution for a few days. Then I rinse and let it soak in water for a couple days. Then I rinse again and let it soak for a couple more days in water. Then ok to go in tank.

It's that easy. Seems to good to be true. I was considering doing the muratic acid method but it's cold in Wisconsin. I could at least do the bleach method in doors. So a 50/50 solution I have a 20 gallon brute trash can I would be looking at about 6 gallons of bleach.

If I were doing 2 batches could I reuse the bleach water again on another batch

Also is tap water ok to use for rinsing or is rodi a must

I'd use tap water for everything except the last rinse/soak, where I would use RO/DI.

So two day bleach soak then rinse then two day tap water soak then rinse then two day rodi soak and I should be good to go

I personally would cure that rock before putting it in an established tank. It will cycle.

I here ya on that one. I don't so much mind the cycle my beef is with the aiptasia and the byprosis problem I had . That's the only reason I'm even nuking the rock. I usually do a fish less cycle for a good month so I think I'd be ok
