WELCOME!
I decided to create this journal to track my progress and share my experiences with keeping SPS in a small tank. Hope you enjoy the thread! :)

BACKGROUND
Started up my first reef tank back in 2016 with a 5 gallon Fluval. A lot of mistakes and lessons later (jumping from apartment to apartment is a struggle), I've settled into a house and rebooted my Nuvo 20. I like to buy tiny nubs and single polyps so expect a lot of progression shots.

SPECS
Nuvo 20 with APS Stand
AquaticLife 24" T5 (4 bulb - coral+/coral+/blue+/blue+ @ 10 hrs/day)
MP10
Real Reef Rock (Broke the large pieces into rubble-ish size, soaked in bleach for 2 weeks, sun dried, and epoxied/superglued together)
InTank Media Baskets (filter floss/Chemipure Blue/Brightwell Xport Bio Cubes)
Kaomer x1 Doser (@0.8ml All for Reef daily)

CORALS

OG Bounce - Looks unhappy. Hasn't been right after 4 tank moves in a row. It had HUGE bubbles a while back.

UC True Pink Nephthea - Grown from a tiny 1" frag back in 2018. Hard to capture the color under T5s.

Japanese Neon Green Toadstool - Neon green polyps are the brightest thing in the tank.

Branching GSP - Lots of movement, color, and grows like a stick. What's not to like?
1593997325598.png

Yuma - Doing really well and actually in the process of pedal laceration.

1593997452048.png

Green Acro - The tester frag. Fast growing and rapidly encrusting past the plug.

Green/Blue Acro - Tester Frag #2. Noticed little white bugs on it. Definitely not black/red bugs or any other pest I'm aware of.

SPS Pack picked up on 6/27/20

Fox Flame - Broke in half on the way home. Thought the top half was going to RTN but it's fully recovered.

Pearlberry - Not sure if this is the real deal. Will find out as it grows larger.

Pink Lemonade - PE comes and goes for some reason. Will keep an eye on it.

Update! Frags have started to encrust nicely so I’ve mounted them onto the rock work. Taken with iPhone, 2.5/3x mag.

Tank is finally growing algae everywhere and corals have never looked better! Nitrates up to 10+ and 0.4 phosphates. Here’s hoping my tuxedo urchin and snails can mow down whatever’s growing.

Thanks Nick! There are some locals here in Dallas that sell nice frags for great prices. The tester frags I got from the LFS cost me the same as the named pieces lol

I've got a bunch of LPS and euphyllia at the moment and an array of zoas. To see an SPS dominant nano is always a sight to see so I'm eager to see this tank grow!

Love LPS but can’t seem to keep them happy for some reason. You should share your tank build
