It’s has been a couple years since I’ve had a reef tank. I have spent the last couple of years focusing on my 120 gallon discus aquarium as well as high tech planted aquascapes. I decided last month to try an AIO aquarium and ended up going with an Innovative Marine Nuvo 20 gallon. As of today I am on day 12 of the fishless cycle. I’m using Dr. Tims bacteria and ammonium chloride. The stand is a custom stand I built. Lighting is a single AI prime HD. I decided to go with a mix of branch and regular caribsea life rock and 20 pounds of live sand. Salt mix is Fritz RPM. Filtration will be an IceCap k1 nano skimmer, intank baskets with filter pads and marine pure media. I plan on using an ATO ( tunze osmolator) and possibly a small media reactor or small refugium in the remaining chamber. Most likely will stock just a pair of clowns and mixed coral. Looking forward to the journey.

Nice thread. Following along as I’m setting up a nuvo 20 as well for my wife and ive only ever had sump setups

Thank you! Most of my tanks have ran sumps in the past. I love the flexibility a sump gives you for sure. This one I wanted to really challenge myself with a smaller water volume and see how I do with an all in one system.

That’s a great choice and a challenge indeed! I can’t wait to see the beauty you make of this tank!

A couple of updates. Just got my salifert cal, mag and alk test kits in. I also got a Tripp lite gfci power bar to connect my equipment into. Fish have been selected. I am going with a pair of black ice clownfish. I expect to be putting them in the tank around the second week of July. The tank is ready for fish but I’m holding off as I’ll be going out of town for a week soon. My next focus will be selecting a quality auto top off system. Still trying to decide on which one I want to go with.

Another update to the tank last week was the addition of a Vortech MP10qd with the reef link. I also received a shipment of 11 different Zoas from WWC. I purchased a couple of their zoa frag packs and they sent me a nice variety of Zoas. WWC Bob Marley, radioactive dragon eyes, sunny d, egg yolk, everlasting gobbstoppers, AOI’s, Gaia’s, devils armor, rising suns, golden eyes, and clementines.
