I purchased the Nyos Elements 1, 2, & 3 to replace trace elements. After reading the instructions, they say to only mix the elements with their Calcium and Alkalinity products (ION B) and not to add directly to the tank. I use the ESV B-Ionic for calcium and alkalinity and don't want to switch to the Nyos ION B. Does anyone use these products separate from their Alk/Cal supplements ? Thx

I’m positive you can use them separately if wanted. I don’t know a dosage but it could be figured out.

You could also add them to your ESV 2 part

Yes, I too am sure that they can be added directly. I expect the issue is probably that you’d need to add a very small amount unless you dilute it somehow.

Thanks Randy. I was thinking about using some dropper bottles and monitor my ICP test. Hopefully Nyos will come out with some type of direction in the future .

Dont know if your still thinking about this, but after each gallon of esv used, dose 30-60ml of each nyos trace bottle slowly into a high flow area because it is soda ash based. There are three parts to the nyos trace, two of them go with the cal/mg and one with the alk. If you finish a gallon of esv alk, then add 30-60ml of nyos trace for their alk straight to the tank. Same for mg/ca, when you finish a gallon, add 30-60ml of each nyos mg/cal trace element bottle. To start, do 30ml of each nyos trace bottles per gallon of esv to be on the safe side. Can check with icp test a month in or so to see if an increase/ decrease of any of the 3 parts is required for proper trace levels. Be careful with dosing as this is not entirely well documented, however follows how nyos reccomends it for their products, transferred to the esv format. Do not mix the esv with nyos traces as it is not known if any of the additives are safe to mix with other brands or not. Just add seperately after finishing 1gal esv as advised, and check with icp.

Wouldn’t this cause a very uneven and inconsistent trace element profile, as well as very high levels on the day it is added?

Yes, it can be spread out more. You can dose say 1ml each bottle per 125ml of esv. This is all just to avoid mixing them as i dont know if that will be reliable. In theory it should work fine though.
