For me it's mostly been a positive thing.

What's your response when you see a new unknown critter in your tank?

Depends on what I see in the tank! Could go either way, haha

I'm with you. Everything is cool until it isn't. Crap comes later.

It can be cool, but at the same time, a new critter appearing in the tank can also mean it came in on a coral that it was feasting on. Oh Crap!.

As mentioned, it really depends on what it is. I mean, some hitchhikers I have include... limpets, two small random bivalves, numerous feather dusters, sponges. I've been lucky with my TBS liverock purchases. I haven't had any unwanted crabs! Everything else can stay, just not certain crabs.

He's definitely cute and fuzzy... but those pinchers say it's a no-go!

Look at those blue eyes, though?!?!?

I named him Frank Sinatra before his burial at sea.

I got in a few saltwater mussels that have grown to a few dozen in one tank. They have lasted more than a year.

I think of my tank as an ecosystem, and am generally happy to see new things. Sure, some things have drawbacks, but few are so bad that they merit a lack of respect. lol

Really depends I’ve seen things by accident under a microscope walk across my slide. Like the time I found a black bug. Literally looked like a spider. Found out they are just scavengers and eat Algea and never had any problems with them and coral. Although some might disagree if they are bad or not. The more diversity the better
