Omg! What is this???

I have an older tank…set up in 2008. Haven’t put anything in it for some time. Pulled this out of the filter sock today. What is it? It is about 3/8 of an inch long with 3 brownish rings separated by 2 whitish rings. It has a proboscis like projection on the front. I’ve looked in my hitchhiker links and can’t find this one. Anyone?

And most important, is it reef safe?

Could it be a peppermint snail? About halfway down on THIS site is a picture of a peppermint.

Could you get a picture of it from the side? If it has a foot to propel it, it is probably in the gastropod family.
