Hello, I just joined you at the beginning of April. I've been a freshwater aquarium owner for a long time, and I've decided to start the saltwater adventure now. I spent a year researching everything, starting to buy my equipment, and finally everything is ready. Some of the equipment I received will come at the end of this month, until then the basic installation was done, bacteria culture was added and I started to wait diatom . I use rodi water which is tds0. I bought about 15-20 kg of rock, washed the whole rock in bleach for 1 week and rinsed it with rodi water and dried it until the smell was gone for 1 week. I bought 20 kg of sand but didn't use them all. I also washed the sand 10 times . After putting the rock and sand, I had a water volume like 160 liters with the sump. I've reached a salinity rate of 1025 with 5.8 kg of salt.

I also ordered A8SE II Max light, 2 Hygger HG151 dc wavemaker, chihiros dosing pump. They will arrive at the end of this month.

I have plenty of time, I will proceed calmly without rushing. I bought all for reef and I also bought the balling A B C set if i need to balance the parameters. I will be using Salifert as a test kit, I bought them 3 of each as spare.




I've adjusted the size of the tank to this corner right now and got it done.


We designed and built a thin glass design landing system and piping from the bottom so that the pipe doesn't appear behind the tank.



I have a 15cm place for the electrical side of the cabinet and 50cm for the sump, the filter roller and the skimmer are in the same place. The ATO takes about 15-17 liters of water on average. I am using only rodi water.

I made this design with excitement the first day, but then I saw that water was leaking from the overflow part of the glass into the sump. I emptied the aquarium and took it back the next day and had it repaired.






After the tank was repaired, it reached me and I installed it without any problems. I started waiting for the diatom to form. I will continue this adventure with the design below.

Thank you. What I am trying to balance right now is the level of ascent and descent. As the roller draws water, the water in the return chamber decreases and the ATO works every 10 minutes for 1-2 seconds. I am trying to catch the most suitable level. It is very difficult :rolleyes:

I think I solved the reefmat and water level issue.First of all, I waited until the water reached a level that was almost triggered in the filter roller. When i set it this way, the water on the return side has no more place to fall. After that, it needs to evaporate. In this case, ATO needs to be activated. When the rollers turn, the water on the return side will rise and ATO will not be active until the rollers are engaged again. The only way it can be active is by evaporating water. I think there shouldn't be a problem if i set it up like this.

While waiting for the diatom process, I came up with the idea of making a media reactor from an external filter that was lying empty in my hand. I filled with seachem matrix. I think it will help biological filtering

Finally, the equipment I was waiting for arrived. I immediately removed the A8SE light and applied thermal paste. I adjusted the location of the dosing pump so that it would be ready for future use. I also mounted the light, and I also bought a diffuser for the light, which was good. Everything is ready now, I will continue in a good way when the diatom process is over.

Thank you yesterday i added uv filter for the future. The sump area is tight but i manage the setting up everything. It looks messy but it works and easy to access for me I think I got the maximum efficiency a person can get from 50 cm of space.

Underneath my tank was a mess, too, but I kept the door closed. Out of sight, out of mind.
