Only my turbo snails die

I have a 25 gallon that’s been going close to a year now. I have a bunch of astreas, ceriths, trocus and a conch. Along with shrimp and starfish. About 2 weeks ago I got 2 turbos and some more astras from my lfs. Acclimated them to my tank and put them all on the rocks. Astreas are just fine doing there thing but both turbos act dead. They move ever so slightly so I know there still alive. I just got a shipment of fish and got another turbo and some trocus today. The turbo was out and about zooming around the bowl while acclimating. Then set him in my tank and now he’s playing dead and will not move.

Is there something that can be bothering my turbos and nothing else in my tank?

they're nocturnal. and only go on rocks/glass. on sand they will barely move and likely wither until death.

Yeah I’ve put all 3 of them on my rocks and have moved them around every few days to see if it’s just said spot they don’t like

That's so crazy! Mine spends all day on the sand leaving a clean white trail through all the diatoms on the sand. Sometimes ill see it on the glass but it's very very rare. Most nights he sleeps hanging upside down in one of my rock "caves" i but sometimes i find him sleeping in the sand in the back of my tank! I have had him for about 3 months and the LFS said he was a few months old when i got him.

Yeah my old turbo would go on the sand at least 2-3 times a week. They are defiantly not the biggest fans of sand but they defiantly dont despise it.

It's really interesting. I also have a nassarius snail that wont burrow under the sand and instead spends his whole day on the glass. I got some odd characters in my tank apparently.

I am having the same issue, I purchased 2 turbos last week and I temperature and drip acclimated them. They moved around for about an hour after introducing them to the tank and now they are on their 5th day of no movement. I did a 30% water change on the third day of no movement thinking there was something I was missing and it didn't help. I took a water sample to the fish store and they concurred that everything was fine. I bought 10 gallons of purified water from the store and did another water change so let's see what happens.

mine took about 2 weeks to fully start running it was really weird. They spent 2 weeks barely attacking to the rocks and i was always flipping them right side up after the fell off the rocks. Then one day they just took off and zoom around the tank non stop all day.

I think there just super sensitive and take awhile to adjust. Thinking back all my previous turbos were from this one guys frag tank that they were living in for ages. So they were already adjusted to captivity

trochus are great cleaners and will reproduce in an established aquarium and they can flip themselves over when they fall. You can phase out your turbos and use those.
