I recently bought a small zoa frag with 3 heads. I bought it online so I didn't see it in person before I got it. It's been in my tank for 3 days and only one head will open. It's currently kinda like in the corner of my tank could flow be a issue? Would it be worth moving it and see how it reacts or will I stress it even more?

What are your current parameters like? Zoas are usually fairly forgiving. As long as there’s a little flow and some amount of light they will usually open up and do okay if the water quality is decent.

Alk is 9.0 , nitrate 6.7 , ph 8. I'll have to test Calcium magnesium and phosphate in a bit. Everything is usually pretty stable tho.

Aside from water quality issue, other possibilities might be a pest like a vermatid or something. Inspect closely see if you can see anything.

Another possibility is that is was like that before sending it to you, and its nothing about your tank at all.

Im leaning towards it being like this when they sent it. The only other thing I could think of maybe flow in the coner is low but wouldn't they all be closed up then?

Also it said the frags are cut when ordered so maybe it hasn't fully recovered?

As long as ur calc/phos isn’t super out of line (i wouldn’t worry about testing mag), I would assume a potential pest or it even just came that way as @Mr. Mojo Rising said. It also could have just been recently fragged or something and still recovering. I’d give it a couple more days before worrying too much since the one head is responding.

Ill give them a test tonight. It came from topshelf aquatics and I believe it did say all frags are cut when ordered. Thank you guys for the help!
