I just finishing putting the skin on my floating canopy for my rimless build. Before I start the finish, I'm seeking opinions on if I should "fancy up" the canopy. It will be finished similar to the stand (in the back ground). So...what do you think?

I think it does need some trim pieces, you need something to draw the eye away from the fact that it is a square wooden box hanging in the air.

what kind of trim is really up to your personal preference. I personally am a fan of the craftsman style furniture.

It should match the stand as close as possible. The stand does not look like it has any trim on it.

If it were me I would paint them both with a high-gloss white paint and get an ultra-smooth finish. The lack of trim would fit perfectly with a modern looking paint job. I think it would look pretty slick.

I agree with that as well. It should match the bottom, but you didnt put any trim on the bottom. I nice clean stand with straight lines would also look very modern.

I told my wife that I would try to make the stand match the decor around the house...french country. The "not so great picture" of the stand is my attempt at a french country look.

+1, especially since the wood grains don't go the same direction.
