I got a great deal on marketplace on a 65 tall complete set up but I do not like how much space the internal overflow tower takes up in this size tank so I would like to remove it, seal the holes and drill it for a ghost overflow. I am completely re-doing the stand and have cut out a large section of the back panel because it was completely enclosed attached are pictures. Opinions please....

I agree to remove the overflow box, if the tank glass isn't tempered.

My LFS is going to drill the tank for me and I think I am going to go with this overflow.

I was just going to silicone a piece of glass over the holes. I did not even consider using both kids and keeping them.
Stupid spell check got me! I did not consider using bulkheads and capping them.

I would go with one that has two or three drains, you can tune it to be very quiet that way. In fact I’ve never seen that style overflow with just one, but maybe that’s just me. I agree it will make the tank look much nicer

Ok just checked the site it not closed so to covid but due to overwhelmed with work so not taking anymore orders. The 36” box is a product they stock I think and if I was you I would send them email to ask about it. They are very good at responding even respond to me at 10 pm at night. Won’t hurt to shoot them a email

Modularmarine design has a removable inside box to make access and cleaning easier especially for tanks that has toP brace that would cover the top of inside weirs.

I see you post 36” box and 1 inch bulk heads. Well mm uses standard 2” bulkheads threw tank and Three 1 1/2 inch bulk heads to drain from exterior box to give you a max of 3600 gallons flow it’s the largest I’ve seen. Then on top of that the box can be custom made any way you like. For me they are adding 2 more drains that are 1 inch each to feed my turf scrubber and rufugium from the other 1 inch. On top of that my inside box I’m having extended to 48” long for my 96” long tank. I feel extra foot of surface skimming can’t hurt
