Hello all

I have an orange mass that I’m thinking is some type of sponge growing on the base of one of my torches. It’s starting to creep onto the rock below. My question is do you think that it will eventually suffocate the torch? Should I scrub it off or leave it alone and see where it goes? Weird thing is it’s only growing on one torch in the torch garden. Any thoughts? These photos were taken at night with a flashlight BTW.

Sponge is my guess, as long as it is not affecting the coral, it is ok.

Does indeed it does look like a sponge. If the Euphyllia appears otherwise healthy, expanding normally I would continue to monitor but otherwise not be too concerned.

Considering it looks to be getting near or covering the flesh band as well I'd be inclined to get the toothbrush out and see if it is easy to remove. But the torches look good.
