Is this polyp extension normal for this Orange Yuma mushroom, I can’t seem to find anything like it online.

I don't know what it means, but some of mine have done that on and off for years, I've never lost one, so I guess its not bad. But I would be curious to know why that happens.

Is that a Hammer right next to the mushroom? If it is the hammer may be stinging it and the polyps are showing signs of distress.

My yumas will go through long periods where they swell up like that in places. I've never had one die. Quite the opposite, as they are taking over the lower portion of my tank.
