These fish are beautiful!!! On day when I have a strictly lps/softie tank I’m going to be adding a few of these guys for sure!

how do you feed them? i would really like some of them

I started them with Masstick, which they took to immediately. I added Panta Rhei Polyp and Panta Rhei Sponge pellets (designed for coralivores and spongivores). They then started eating frozen that I would feed to everyone else. Now they eat anything they can fit in their tiny little mouths.

What other fish do you house them with? Did they initially have to compete a lot for the Masstick?

Lots of fish, but they didn’t really pay much attention to the Masstick as I would feed frozen at the same time. Dwarf angels, clowns, royal gramma, cb butterfly, firefish, mandarin dragonets, chromis, pj cardinal, sleeper banded goby, clown gobies, 4 wrasses

Buy some Masstick right away. I've also had luck in freshly hatched baby brine shrimp. Is it picking at your corals?

wish i could show mine. died of cyanide as soon as i got it. it was in the lfs for a long time where it probably set in

Just an update. I now have 6 osff (3 male & 3 female). There was quite a bit of aggression at first, but they have mellowed out as everyone has fattened up.

Masstick, putting it on a coral skeleton can help. Also separating them initially so they don’t have to compete while they learn what to eat (a breeder box or small extra tank until they are eating- which usually only takes a day or two at most). If it’s really thin, I’d keep it separately at least a week so it can regain strength and a bit of weight.

Lol yes I had to cage my sole tiny coral as it was picking more or less straight away

He seems to be quite a good size at the moment, I do have mastick, I can try a breeding box, thank you for the advice he seems to quite interested just not taking atm

mine ate brine right away, i think what you should do after its eating masstick is give it foods like repashy and mabye brine shrimp or their decapsulated eggs. it may eat pellets but it will hate you for it

I currently have 4 orange spotted filefish. I’ve had 3 males for about 9 months and 1 female for about 4 months. Adding the single female has made my males a bit aggressive. I’m receiving 3 females tomorrow that I’m hoping will arrive healthy and maybe calm down the boys a bit. I’d love to hear anyone else’s experiences keeping groups of these fish. I haven’t been able to find much information and I hope adding a group of ladies doesn’t make the boys even crazier

hey i found shop in neighbouring country that has some of them in stock for 2 months now. will ask for video of them eating tomorrow. if they are eating prepared foods do you think i will have problem with them eating acropora. i would get only 1 tank is 150g have 10 acroporas some mini colonies some still frags. started with all 100% live rock

Yes. That's thier natural food source. I doubt they could resist a nice juicy acro for very long.

They will definitely go after SPS. Unless the colonies are huge, they would probably do some serious damage to them. Frags or small colonies at best would completely stop extending polyps. Worst case the osff will damage the tissue eventually killing the acros.
