Orange torch - what do you think?

I’m reviving this thread because after this died down, my quest did not end. I have continued hunting around for orange torch, with low expectations, and skepticism, but I remained determined.

And here is what I found. A picture. Of a torch that seemed orange. And not fake neon oversaturated orange. But a possibly realistic orange. It wasn’t listed for sale. It was in the background of another pic I was sent and I asked about it

I reached out, and was told it’s not for sale. I asked if the torch had a name, and yes - it’s called “manila torch” (Philippines)

I researched and found nothing even referencing this torch.

I told them, there’s nothing on any search engine called Manila torch. I was told, theres none for sale in US market, and it won’t be in our search engine. You need to search in another language on search engines in other countries…ok…interesting…then was provided these screenshots

I then said…none for sale in us market…but I see it in your tank…do you have it? I was told yes.

I asked again to buy it and was told the one in the picture I found was not for sale but they do have a two head also (even better) but they don’t want to sell it

Well. I backed off and sure enough a few weeks later they wrote to me and said if I really want it and am serious, they would sell the two head.

I asked for videos. Photos. They provided. I asked for pics and videos of it with reference torches in it that I am familiar with so I could see if those torches appear as expected while this one appears as presented. Send me a pic with it next to a banana grail. Send me a pic with it next to a sun god. Send a pic next to a Knicks / 24k. They accommodated. It all seemed legit. So. I bought it and figured even if it’s not orange, it still looks like a very nice and unique torch and I’ll be happy as long as it’s not a regular Indo gold like I got scammed with earlier in this thread by the vendor I won’t name.

And…I have had the manila torch for a few weeks now and can definitely say, I’m very happy with it, it’s unlike any other torch I’ve owned or even seen…and it’s “orange-ish” in person lol

Ok I’ll give more info. I did not receive a 2 head torch.

I received a thick branching Y shape torch, and each head is pinching and forming 3 heads, and then off of these two main trunks, is a tiny fully formed individual head.

This is it on arrival day, and as it started to open but was still acclimating to my tank and lighting and would take a few weeks to destress, adjust, and “color up”

At this point in time I could see gold highlights, and that did look like normal 24k / Indo gold color, but the majority of the tentacles is something else

I would say it’s “orangish” with neon green tips. My camera for some reason doesn’t capture it that well, but this is pretty close.

You can see yellow torches and other torches in the tank and this is unlike anything else. Sometimes I feel it’s like a copper color, other times it’s a orangish depending on the lighting.

Regardless, it’s a large unique torch that can pass for orange in some situations and I am really happy with it. Hey. At least a regular gold torch didn’t show up lol

What does everyone think ? It’s on my front glass, near center

What was the cost of this? I'm curious as well of the cost of the international shipping (and any risks associated with this due to customs concerns or similar with livestock transit?)

Yes it is a “goldish orange” and the tips are blue in some lighting and green in other lighting.

This torch plays tricks on you. It can really change appearance in different conditions

i paid 360 shipped which I feel was reasonable for one small head and 2 large heads that are both well into the dividing process. This is like a colony and is large when it’s fully open

Honestly given the seemingly sasquatch levels of rarity of orange torches that seems like a bargain considering there's vendors out there that are charging $500+ for a single head of a yellow torch.

I love euphyllia, they're my favorite corals, but it's getting really tough to justify the price tag of some of these things. Especially considering you can scroll through a sellers website and see 10 different names, at 10 different prices, with functionally the same photo associated with them.

Lol did you see what happened to me earlier in the thread? Completely bright orange torch, seller insisted it was orange and not yellow, I bought it, and it was straight up normal yellow.

I did it. Might be a technicality, but I would consider this orange torch. It might be orangish or orange-gold in some lighting, but this might be as close as I can get to an orange torch, and a lot of the time it truly looks orange. Especially if you have a Knicks or 24k nearby and can see them both at once.
