Been dealing with a Dino outbreak lately. We got a little hyperfocused on getting Ca/Alk/Mag in check to start filling with corals and started slacking on watching our Nitrates and phosphates. Anyway, they bottomed out and Dino’s have started taking over. Started dosing Neonitro and Neophos along with MB7. Added a GKM UV last night. Hoping to get things semi under control quickly as we are going out of the country for about 10 days late next week.

Well after several weeks of headache. We finally have started the cycle in a new tank!

I would caution anyone reading this in the future against Planet Aquariums. We have received essentially ZERO support from them even after they admitted we had a defective tank. Despite multiple emails and even Facebook messages we have basically been ghosted by Planet Aquariums. Even our LFS could not get them to return a call or email. Luckily for us our LFS exchanged the tank out. I certainly hope we don’t have any future issues.
I was about to order a 47g from Planet.....seems like there is a customer service problem in general in the aquarium industry. Im having similar issues with Innovative Marine and their lack of communication.

I’d steer clear personally. Terrible customer service and we’ve essentially replaced every component of the tank besides the glass. New returns, new return pumps, and new filter setup. Probably should have gone with a better company from the start but we liked the footprint of this one so here we are. Won’t ever buy from them again if we ever upgrade/change.

Little update. The Dino fight seems to be likely over. The GKM did nothing so we got another UV with an adjustable pump so we could control the flow. The Dino’s then receeded pretty quickly. We’ve left the UV on for probably a month now just to be safe. Trying to keep nitrates and especially phosphates up with dosing. On a more fun note, new corals!

Little update:
- A few more corals have been added. Todd Torch, Hulk Torch and some Utter Chaos Zoas.
- Not totally satisfied with the lighting setup. Currently using 2 Noopsyche K7 Pros but feel we have too much shade. Starting to look into something for more light fill, whether that’s a 3rd Noopsyche or something else.

Neat tank, I dig the dimensions. Really digging the canopy you designed/built... Toying with the idea of a home office tank and might lift that floating canopy from ya!

I wanted to go but I'm not sure my wife would approve of me going all the way to Indy for coral.
