I got my safilert tests and I’m doing the magnesium test and I am blue after the first two regents. Does anyone have any advice?

I followed instructions of add 2ml water to tube. Add 5 drops of the mg1, and then one scoop of the mg2 powder.

and I’m blue blue.

tonight’s results

Ph 8.0 -8.15

Calcium .08 / 460

Magnesium.08 / 1380

Alk 7.7dkh

Phosphorus 9 / phosphates .028

Is it possible for my phosphates to reduce so drastically when turning on a skimmer?

I skipped morning feeding and the skimmer has been running.

I will retest tomorrow.

going to add a dose of alk to bring it up a point.

I’ve been battling GHA. Scrubbing it off. Trying be extra good about changing socks every 2/3 days.

Doing a water change every other week.

went to LFS and these were my params.

dosed to raise my alkalinity and my magnesium.

134 is equal to 7.5dkh
What is your goal for alkalinity ?

I agree magnesium should be a little higher around 1350-1450
Even calcium could be increased to 410-425
Ideally you want 380-450

Also noticed phosphates are zero . I’d try increasing it a little .
Feed your corals a few times with reef roids will help

I would say that my alkalinity goal is about 9. So not far away but I feel like I can’t get it consistent.

yes I think everything needs to go up a notch. I wonder if I need to start consistently dosing the tank?

i went to another LFS on Monday to scope it out and of course brought a water sample with me this is from 09/26. Look at my phos there! LOL

I have AB+ but I stopped for a while because I feel like it was spiking my nitrates and thus the GHA.
Since I’ve started being more betta at my husbandry I have started up again.
