It came without a rock... so I put a small piece of live rock in the sand underneath. I hope it will be fine. I will update, around how long do they take to attach?

nice clam! as long as its not damaged, it should be attached in a couple days.

A lot of people prefer to keep them on the sandbed with no rock attached and that does them no harm but if you want it to be attached to something then that shouldnt take very long
 
In my experience they dont really need a rock. i have 2 maximas and they have been on my sand for the last 3 years
