I'm setting up a 65 display, and taking my time with equipment selection. I am interested in running UV to help control cyano/algae. On paper it seems like a 15 watt would get me by, but if I run a 25 watt the flow rate lines up well to feed the UV through the return. The sizing of the 25 watt unit should work with plumbing as I currently envision it. My question is about the 57 watt unit. It has the same footprint as the 25 watt unit, so I want to know of there is anything for me to gain by running the stronger UV? Would I get the protozoa sterilization benefit with the 300 gph flow rate on a 65 gallon display?

Thanks,
Phil

We have a 50-gallon tank and with the sump, approximately around 60-gallons altogether. We run a 36-watt Jebao UV using Sicce Syncar Silent 2.0 pump running about 280-300 GPH through the UV. Doing great.

Heat can be a problem during the Summer, when you’ll need it the most. I’m running a Coralife 3X, piped as diverted recirculation, on my return pump. I’m very happy with the results. Total volume is 62 gallons.
