I am building a custom 400 Gallon tank with a 100 gallon sump. I want to have a bean animal overflow but I am unsure how to determine the overflow box size and where I live the reefing community is inexisting and my glass provider has limited tank know how. Can anyone guide me on overflow and pipe size? I will operate a 3000 GPH return pump. any help is appreiated.

How much circulation are you actually trying to achieve? A 3000 gph pump will likely only deliver about half of that in an actual installation when the required head is factored in. You will likely be into at least 1-1/2" piping (supply) and 2" return or multiple smaller lines. I would not go with less than a 3ft wide overflow box from either Modular Marine or Exotic Marine
