Just purchased a nice18x18x18 tank (25G) with AIO filtration area in the back. Presently researching options to add a sump and would appreciate some advice.
  1. Best overflow to use (I am fine with drilling, but would consider fool-proof HOB)
  2. Location of overflow -- does it need to be on the side (main tank), or can I put it in the center section of the filtration area? Prefer the back for visual reasons, but any reason I should consider the side? Like for additional circulation?
  3. Overflow flow rate -- is there a table somewhere to give me good flow rates for a 25G tank?
  4. Sump recommendations -- decent nano sump that is no bigger than 16x16 footprint. Likely will just make it myself, though.
Then again, just might punt the sump plans and go with a nano-skimmer in the middle filter area. Weighing my options.

Plan for tank is LPS and softies (zoas) and a few smallish fish. Plan for sump would be as a refugium with sand bed, or location for a skimmer.

P.S. Just getting back into hobby after a few years hiatus, so taking this slow and planning everything before putting water in the system.

Because it sticks up above top of rimless tank. Think going sump or no skimmer if no sump
