Overly thin acrylic?

After finalizing the potential tank size for a friend, he ended up picking up a used 96x24x20 tru vu(tru view?) acrylic tank thats made of 3/8ths material all around.

Based on what I know (not claiming to be an expert) but this seems extremely thin for that length and height considering most builders for a 24" height use at least 1/2" (i would personally order at least 3/4" if new due to bowing)

Should I have him cut his losses before setting it up (and likely having to deal with some really major bowing) or let him enjoy his purchase?

that Bow will suck. I hated my old tenecor tank for the same reason. Some companies really skimp on quality. I’d say Fill it up and see how bad it ends up being Some people don’t care. Heck there was a 90 gallon “wave shaped” tank for a while

I know if it were me, I wouldn't even consider setting it up for that reason. It's also the same reason why my own acrylic tank is 1" all around so theres no bowing.

Bumping for additional opinions. Got to see the perimeter bracing after he picked it up. On the bright side thats 6" but each cross brace looks like 4" only vs 6"
