I have a 5 gallon nano tank that is overstocked. I'm doing a 20% water change twice a week. Any other recommendations? I don't know my #s as I stopped doing tests on my tanks 2 years ago.

Looks great.....IMO, all you need is a skimmer (mostly for gas exchange).
With those WC's you are doing, the #'s must look good....everything looks happy.....

A skimmer would be a great idea for gas exchange. However I’m trying to understand how one can keep nutrients up when doing 20% changes a week. I’ve always struggled with low nutrients

the only thing I would do is add a background maybe light blue to the back.....the ope back takes away fro this beauty of a tank

Because of all the livestock I have to feed heavily and the only filtration I have is a protein skimmer and macroalgae

You are right. I have a background and Light on my 30 gallon but keep forgetting to do the same for this one.

The hobby changes as your tank matures. Pruning and testing should be a big focus for you. How do you keep the calcium and alkalinity up for the LPS??

I keep those up by consistent water changes. I have found that stability works for me far better than chasing #s

I think some zoas on the rocks and under the trumpets would be a nice addition :)
Yes I'm a little scared to add Zoas in there right now. I had a problem with bubble algea so I got an emerald crab. The last one I had in my 30 gallon seemed to take a special interest in my zoas. Anyways I may give it a try.

Five fish in 5g is crazy.

Yes it wasn't supposed to be this way. 2 of them should be in my 30 gallon but my tailspot blenny is related to Satan so I moved them over. I am going to get rid of the tailspot and then move them back over. Just don't know when that will happen. He is extremely hard to catch.
