I posted this on my build thread, but I came up empty handed on feedback, so...

I got a portion of the canopy painted, and wanted to hear some feedback.
My wall colors are about to change to something that matches this stand and canopy better. There is also going to be some wall decor that is a good match as well. As much as I like the "antique" look, I am not so sure about it being on an aquarium cabinet any more.

Anyone else care to chime in?

I do not have the skill or ability to build and finish a canopy that looks as well built as yours is now. If you don't like it I suspect that you could change the finish into something you like better pretty quickly. I would do that now if it's bugging you. If not, move on and get the tank filled next. It's going to be beautiful when you get it done. Very nice work so far.

If I had a stand and canopy that looked like that my wife might actually let me put it in the main living area of the house LOL.

Looks great.

I think it looks good, but it's all about what you (and your wife) like! If you're looking at getting away from the antique look, maybe a solid white to match your fireplace would look good as well. I think for that style, I'd either keep it the way it is, or go solid clean white.

I think it looks nice, however a brighter white would make the stand “pop”.

My buddy and I built my stand for my new build so I will include a pic for reference.

I always prefer the “antique” look so naturally I love the look you have going with your stand. It’s nice to see something different than solid white or black. But as others mentioned, all that matters is what you think of it!

Thanks for the words of encouragement! Some years ago, I built a custom bar for someone, and we did the paint like that, and I loved it! For some reason, when I put it on the canopy, I wasn't so sure.

For now, I am going to finish it out like it is, and if I hate it, I will change it later. I guess I just wanted someone else to tell me it didn't look bad.

Thanks again!

I think that it looks great!
My wife has been wanting some furniture pieces like that.
Care to share what your finishing steps were?

I think it looks very good. Not exactly what I would choose, but it's for you and yours, not me! Good job!
