So since I'm having to customize my canopy a little to install my lighting I'm taking advantage and going to paint the interior white using appliance epoxy paint which was recommended by an experienced reefer. This will give me superior reflection.

Had anyone else done this to their canopy?

Yes, both my canopy and stand interiors were sealed and painted with white epoxy for protection from the elements. Don't expect much light reflection as it doesn't add anything since it is not a mirrored finish or at the right angles to reflect into the tank. It does protect the wood though, my system is 10 years old now and holding up well.

Many times with good results, have also lined with mylar for even better reflection while using VHO lamps in the past.

pic of my old 75g canopy, painted with White Epoxy then lineded with mylar
