Help!! My coral beauty seems to be losing her color. She is eating fine (Pellets in AM, frozen in PM) and swimming fine. She gets along with all of her tank mates as well. Any suggestions??

Tank Parameters:
Temp: 80.1
Salinity: 1.026
Ammonia: .01
Nitrite: 0.0
Nitrate: 5.0
PH: 7.9 (recently dropped from 8.1)

Tank Mates:
Valentini Puffer
Starry Blenny
Purple Firefish
Yellow Clown Goby
Royal Gramma
PJ Cardinal
BTA, Condy
Pincushion Urchin
CC Star
Various cleanup crew (ceriths, hermits, snails, emerald crab, pistol shrimp)

(Before I get torn to shreds for overloading...currently cycling a 120g that everyone is moving to. hopefully in a week or two. Friend recently got out of the hobby and I took a few of his fish. It's only temporary close quarters!!)

Did you explain to the fish that you were cycling another tank? I don't think they know about that.

Your holding tank is overstocked, no hiding spaces that I see, certainly any fish will be stressed in that situation.

My suggestion is remove some fish. If you can't do that, then maybe add some more rocks or pvc tubes or something so that the fish can hide.

There's actually a ton of hiding spaces, she's got one that she loves. You can't really see them from the video though. She has her spot that she usually chills in, but they all come to the front when someone walks by. I'll see what I can do about adding in some more though and see if that helps

And yes, we all had a sit down and I told them they were moving from a downtown flat to a townhouse. They're all pretty excited about it ;-)

How quick was the color loss? Over a day, a week a month?

Is there damage to its caudal fin, looks like it in the video.

I would say about the last month.

And if you're talking about the jagged edges, they've been like that since I got her 6 months. ago.

Coral beauties often fade in captivity, but more along the lines of over 6 months or more.

Flukes also cause this species to turn pale. Are you seeing any scratching and/or rapid breathing?
