This Surge from Panta Rhei seems an interesting new way of wavemaking. Similar to the wavebox, but different.

I want one of these so bad. Seen a video a while back how it works. Other then a being a pain to clean, it floods the water surface with a huge surge of water every couple seconds or so.

They come in 2 sizes for now 80x80mm and 12x120mm.

Speaking of which someone can probably 3d print something like this so it doesn't cost both your arms and legs LOL.

It's a wave maker facing upward on pulse mode. Face the mesh in a certain direction and walla.

That's kind of genius of you. The most likely wavemaker where I could see this work would be the Tunze Stream 3 since they already have it so it can face upwards.

I e got 2 stream 3’s in my tank. I’d be afraid to point those things up without the director on it. It’s hard plastic not 3D printed. If the 3d plastic failed, it would be like the fountain at the Belagalio (sp?) (in Vegas)

I mean Panta rei pieces in question look to be 3d printed. The layer lines are clearly visible on the large one. Perhaps those are just prototypes. No way a PETG or abs will fail in this application if properly printed since there is no pressure really.

Most of the cost is the pump itself the plastic chamber isn't that much.

I checked that out of curiosity too
The Surge 42 uses the ECM 42 pump.
Uniquecorals has the pump listed for ~$1000, which means the extra plastic bits are ~$400.

Yeah and its 3D printed as well not sure if they are molded now but either way still way over price for something like that.
