I really appreciate itThat lid isnt doing you any favors concerning low ph.
Action items recommended:
1. Increase air exchange, either with the skimmer or through some other means. This will start to help with ph.
2. Work on decreasing phosphates. GFO, lanthanum etc. Whichever method you choose is fine, just dont do it too rapidly. .4, .5 is fine for lps/softies, .1 is better for sps.
3. Dose mag back into the 1300-1400s.
4. Depending on alk consumption and current levels, implement kalk dosing to help with ph in parallel with increased gas exchange. Watch out that you dont swing your alk too high or to quickly.
That should keep you on track for a healthy tank.
Based solely on a list of numbers I’d sayph 7.5
Phosphate 1.1
Nitrate 13
DKH 8.8
Magnesium 1189
Calcium 395
What do you think of the numbers and what would you recommend I do. Thank you
Thank youBased solely on a list of numbers I’d say
Ph- low
PO4- high
Nitrate- fine
Kh- fine
Mag- low
Cal- low
But im a reef keeper, (well, not currently, but I’m working to get back there)
Right now I have the return and 1 MP40 should I add another MP40??I really appreciate it
My dosing container 450ml. Feels like I need a bigger boatWell I am back. I have Seachem reef advantage magnesium. My magnesium is 1180 and I want to get it to 1400. It says not to dose more than 80 liters per day. What do you folks say. I want to thank you ahead of time
are you running a skimmer? if so, you should think about hooking up outside air :)About 3 months ago I went from crystal reef to instant ocean because my numbers were high. Now there are more corals so I am pondering going back to reef crystals. My ph has never been above 8.1 and almost always 7.8 range.
Bump it 30-50ppm every other day. Hopefully they meant milliliters though lol.Well I am back. I have Seachem reef advantage magnesium. My magnesium is 1180 and I want to get it to 1400. It says not to dose more than 80 liters per day. What do you folks say. I want to thank you ahead of time
Well I am sure I will be back and thank youBump it 30-50ppm every other day. Hopefully they meant milliliters though lol.
You must be proud of me. Doser set for 50ppm every other day. Now for the kalkwasser It says to start with 1 milileter per liter. My total system is 260 gallons which equals 984 liters so what would you recommend I dose. I am going to have to get you a Christmas card this year. And really thank you so muchBump it 30-50ppm every other day. Hopefully they meant milliliters though lol.

Thank you and I will let you know how it is going in a few daysNo worries, glad to help!
Be careful not to forget about that doser when you get back where you need to be!
Dosing kalk is going to increase your alkalinity and calcium levels, so how much you can dose is going to be based on how much alk your tank uptakes a day. I would start with half or a quarter the recommended dose, do that for a few days and see what that is doing to your alk levels and work up from there.
I did the kalkwasser calculator. It said just under 1900 mil a day. So I took 900 and divided it by 24. It came out to 38 mil 24 times a day. How do those numbers sound. I am trying to run with the big boys now. Again thank youThank you and I will let you know how it is going in a few days
I was wondering if you could help me out with my magnesium numbers. I have seachem magnesium and a 450 mil dosing resivore My system is 260 gallons all together. My magnesium was tested at 1107 and I would like it around 1400. For the life of me I can’t figure it out. Seachem sent me a calculator but I can’t figure out how to use it. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated and thanks.Got a pic?
