Safe travels to those in this winter storms path. But for jhoffa92 and I it's giving us a cancelled training day to check out the LFSs in north Jersey. So far on the list we are going to check Ocean Gallery, Underwater World and Shark Aquarium out today and Elos AquaStudio tomorrow. Any gems or diamonds in the rough the R2R fam could suggest to check out?

Are you talking about Ocean Gallery II at 980 Route 22 East
North Plainfield, NJ 07060. (908) 226-1100. http://www.oceangalleryii.com

This really isn’t North Jersey….more central.

However, if you are, you might wish to consider Feng Reef at 702 Bound Brook Rd
Dunellen, NJ 08812. (917) 502-9649. It’s maybe three miles away. The thing with Feng is that you’re best calling first to make sure he is there….or I think he lives very close….he’ll open knowing that you’re coming.

Also might want to check out Aquatic Obsessions at 1150 Saint Georges Avenue in Avenel, NJ 07001. (732)-634-8448. Aquatic Obsessions

With the snow we are getting today, you’ll want to call all of these to make sure they are open……and I’m thinking not today! Already have a good four inches on the ground, and still snowing.

I guess that would be mid jersey but we can travel a little ways to waste the day off. That is the place we are checking out and we will add the other to the list. I'm trying to meet up with friends where I grew up near the Bergen Rockland line so anything in that area is game.

With squeezing visiting family in the old neighborhood in the only shop we hit was Reef Encounter Bergen County. The tanks are kept decently clean and the stock appears healthy. The coral stock was about average but what caught my eye was the amount of not-too-common marine fish. The warehouse side of of the shop had a great selection of chems and supplements and the staff was friendly and helpful.
Pros- Good assortment of fish and dry goods. Worth a visit to see some odd-ball livestock
Cons- Bubble algae in coral tanks and livestock pricing higher than you'd expect near a point of import.
