Hey guys I have a 300 gallon 8ft tank. I have a passer angel and I'm trying to add a regal and it's not going well. The other fish are pretty much over it but the passer continuously harrases and nips at him. He's been in an acclimation box for two days and I tried releasing him earlier to the same issues. Anything else worth trying? Might just not be in the cards. I've usually been able to work around stuff like this but my passer is just not having this addition so far.

You could try the mirror trick in his territory.
Passer could get focussed on that reflection and spare the regal until it establishes itself.

I put a mirror up and he didn't really pay much mind to it. I might try it again. Might end up just having to re-home the regal. Never been unable to deal with aggression but this passer is all kinds of ticked off about this regal lol. Weirdly he ignores it in the acclimation box.

You could rearrange the rockwork and put the passer in the box for a few days so that the regal establishes itself first.

That's a good idea. I will try that if a couple more days in the box for the regal doesn't help.

I also feel the pomocanthus angels are more tolerant than holocanthus. Atleast they dont get to the point of killing tankmates !

Passers are probably the most aggressive angelfish you can keep, and the Regal is one of the weakest. I will be very surprised if you can make that work even in a 300 gallon tank. I think you need to pick on or the other and I think a Passer will severely limit your other angel choices. I once knew a store owner that tried to introduce a large passer into a shop 3000 gallon tank with other angels and it terrorized the entire tank.

Very well may end up being the case.
