Hi! So just like the title says, I'm looking for tank mates that are compatible with a Pearly jawfish and a Bluestripe Pipefish (captive bred) in a 20 gallon. The tank dimensions are 23.6 x 14 x 14 if this helps. I was thinking about a small group of Longspine Cardinals but they're not the greatest shippers and I can't find any locally so thats a side idea. I was thinking possibly a pink streak / possume wrasse or a helfrichi firefish. Does anyone have any other ideas?

A pair of clownfish is definitely an option. I personally like A Bangii cardinal or chalk basslet but they are more bland in some peoples opinions. Also the basslets may be a bit aggressive toward the pipefish In a 20 gallon I’m not to sure. A small blenny like a bicolor is also an option. A fire fish or two could also be a nice addition.

I think possum wrasse is a nice interesting species as are all wetmorella but pink streaked wrasse are also cool.

For something fun you could look into a barnacle blenny.

Cleaner gobies are also really nice fish.

gobiodon citrinus or gobiodon histrio or gobiodon okinawae would look good.

Or you could get spouses for the jawfish and the pipefish :)

That's true about the basslet, hmm. I was looking at a white lined combtooth blenny but idk how they'll fair with macros. I might try an exuisite firefish if I can find one

I think my LFS might have a possume of some sort, I'm actually going today! So i'll look for it, I do like barnacle blennies but I can't find any locally, crossing my fingers

I was actually thinking about a citrinus goby for the old tank and some what for this one too, I saw one at the lfs that looked really pretty but I think it got sold already. I think a pair of either would be super awesome but I'm not sure if the place can tell the sex of the fish, I'll ask because I think a pair of pearly's would be awesome

Sexing the pipefish is easy, the jawfish not so easy. Male Bluestripe pipefish have little bumps on their upper snout, whereas females have a smooth upper lip. They are rewarding to keep as a pair.
