Peppermint and cleaner shrimp together

I have 2 peppermint shrimp in my tank and want to add a pair of cleaner shrimp. Anyone have experience keeping them together?

I have 3 peppermints and one cleaner shrimp in my 116g and it's no problem[emoji4]

Definitely not a issue in my experience. I had a pair of cleaners and about 8 pep in my 180g. You’ll almost never see the pep tho as they come out at night to scavenge.

Why not 2 cleaner? It’s always interesting seeing them paired up and having eggs. When those eggs hatch it’s natural food for your fish and corals.

No problems having any combination of Fire, Cleaner or Peppermint Shrimp.

Not a problem. I had 2 peppermint and a cleaner in a 40 breeder with no problem. Only shrimp that was the problem was a coral banded. Little jerk killed all my peppermint shrimp. He went back to the LFS after removing almost all my rock to catch him. I’ll never buy one of those suckers again

I had 12 peppermints and 3 cleaners in a 180g and I would see the cleaners go after the peppermints whenever they were in the same vicinity. 2 months later, I see no peppermints in the tank.

If I wanted 2 cleaners would they have to be added at the same time? Or could I get one and then add another later

They can be purchased at a later time. They aren’t like fish where certain fish need to be bought at the same time.

I know this post is over 6 years old, but I have 2 peppermint shrimp in my tank before, and I added a 2 cleaner shrimp to my tank. I dont see them actively fighting, but overtime, I see the peppermint shrimp begin to hide more and more and eventually just totally disappeared in my tank. The cleaner shrimps were pretty aggressive on going after pellets and other food, literally climbing over the peppermints to grab food, not to mention the lack of aiptasia for the peppermint to eat in my tank probably starved to death in my tank.

I have a 164g tank and a growing aptasia problem. Thinking of getting 3-5 peppermint shrimp today to handle it and at a later date maybe get 1 cleaner shrimp for the tank.

I think you could do a lot of any lysmata species combined and get away with it. I have two cleaners a fire and 5 permints in my 80g. Plan to add another fire shrimp. Can confirm spawning shrimp make great food for the tank. Fish go bananas when the larvae are released!
They have momentary skirmishes (I’ve seen this only between my cleaners and peps) that quickly end when they get out of each others immediate territory.
I also find that lysmata shrimp always do well when grouped with a minimum of two. They will be out and about more with friends.
