Hello, we are new to rock flower anemones and bought four of them today. They immediately started taking off the rock we put them in and they are now in the sand bed moving to who knows where. My problem is that we had a peppermint shrimp immediately started picking at one of them. I just read that peppermint shrimp can eat them if they are hungry. So I have two questions:
1. How the heck do you feed a peppermint shrimp if he’s back under the rock work?
2. Will my anemones be in extra danger on the sand bed?

Thanks for any advice!

You could try feeding peps few mins after lights out ?
rock flowers are notorious for moving until they find their happy spot

It never occurred to me they would eat RFA's, but I guess it makes sense, after all we buy them specifically because they eat anemone's.

The rfa's will always be in danger with peppermint shrimp in the tank.
One has to go.

Ive kept RFAs for 20+ years. In that time I have kept peppermint shrimp on and off.

Usually I would get the shrimp to eat apatasia. The ones that ate apatasia would eat RFAs as well. The ones that did not touch apatasia did not touch the RFAs.

If they are already picking at the RFAs they will eat them eventually. They especially go ham on then when the lights are out.

I would feed the shrimp whatever the fish ate.

RFAs are ok on the sand bed. Just know that they feel more comfortable with their foot attched to something. So if you have a deep sand bed some of the RFAs will get sand on top of them because they want to comfort of their foot touching the bottom glass of the tank. If the sand bed is shallow sand covering them shouldn't be a problem.
