The Peppermint Candy Cane Hogfish is a colorful marine wrasse that requires a spacious, mature aquarium with plenty of live rock, caves, and open swimming room. It is an active and generally hardy species, but can become territorial as it matures, so tankmates should be chosen carefully and similarly sized or robust fish are preferred. A secure lid is recommended because wrasses can jump. Provide a varied carnivorous diet of high-quality Nutramar pellets, Gamma frozen mysis shrimp, krill, chopped seafood, and other meaty foods offered 1–2 times daily. Maintain excellent water quality with stable marine parameters, strong filtration, and regular maintenance. This species is best suited to experienced aquarists with larger marine systems and should be monitored for aggression toward smaller, peaceful fish and ornamental invertebrates.
