Well my troubles with aiptasia arose about a month ago. I decided to buy 2 peppermint shrimps and see if the would eradicate the problem. I have done this many times and have seen the same result. Not seeing any site of the shrimps for the month that they have been in there, i had my first glimpse of them when i turned the lights on today. They were chewing on all my PE's!!!!(people eaters). This has happened before and i dreaded it because all my PE's colonies have been thriving and now will have to be rehibilitated back to full health. Their skirts are ripped up and one polyp in a colony had the center eaten out of it!

They have eradicated all of the smaller aiptasia nems but the bigger ones remain, which will be shot up with hot water soon enough. Seems that i try to eradicate one problem and another one arises. Looks like these guys will have to go soon. I placed the PE's in a high flow area on a eggcrate rack and it seems to be keeping the shrimp away due to the high flow.

ARghh:sad:

Still having problems with peps Steven? Just borrow somebody's mystery wrasse for a couple of days, problem solved! :)

Aiptasia X is crap in my experience. They *seem* to work but couple of days later, aiptasia is back in the same exact spot. Waste of $20.

My peppermint shrimp ate all my aiptasia and it stays out all day. I also have 2 peppermints that hide all day and they don't touch the aiptasia

How long are you guys getting your peppermints to live? mine seem to perish after about 4-6 months. I'm guessing maybe they just don't get enough food? The cleaner shrimp i've had for 2 years.

Ive had relativly good success with joes juice, I often have to treat the same area more than once (two weeks or so later) but, I find it still works. It also kills those pesky mojano anemones with due prejudice.
