Permanent Marker

So I want to start labeling my frags. I am considering starting a system of sorts by marking the bottoms of the plugs. I was thinking of using permanent marker, but want to know if anyone has tried it, and had adverse effects. Any help or info into the situation would be greatly appreciated.

I have used a sharpie and so have many of the other reefers i trade with without any problems. That being said it wouldn't make a ton of frags and label them all at once, also wait for in to dry before putting them in the tank, maybe label and let dry before you start cutting frags.
