Can the tanks at Petco be drilled? Need to make a refugium.

i've drill 10,20,29 and 40b tanks bought at petco both on the bottom and side so i would say yes

They didn't crack? everyone is telling me they are tempered and can not be drilled. so I will take your word for it. Where did you buy the glass hole saw?

A friend of mine drilled the back of a 29 and it was tempered. Aqueon has listings on their website for what is 'supposed' to be tempered. Problem is they sometimes send out tanks with more than just the bottom tempered.

no crack at all.it was given to me by one of the local reefers.just go real slow and let the drill do all the work.lots of water and no pressure at all

I wanted to do the bottom of my 40B, but decided not to risk it (missed the dollar gallon sale by a day :)) Anyways, I drilled the back and it is much nicer not to flood my garage. Like Huuta said, do not use any pressure at all, keep the bit even all the way through, and it works like a charm. I got my drill bits from BRS, they specify which hole sizes will fit certain bulkheads.
