I gotta say I'm very surprised with how much one of our dogs has fallen in love with our fish. If the door to the basement is open shes sitting in front of or next to the tank just watching the fish swim around. She will do this for hours and has never done anything like this before. Anyone else experience this kind of thing?

When were not home we have to lock the basement now because as you can see she's not afraid to get a closer look if we aren't paying attention.

I used to have a 93 gallon FW tank that sat next to the basement stairs. There was 2 pictus catfish and a blood parrot cichlid (that I still have in other tanks) that would taunt my miniature schnauzer. He would whine, put his nose against the tank and try to bite them as they crowded around that corner of the tank, and occasionally even scratch at the glass. It's very difficult to correct a dog when you're laughing your a** off.

My dogs will sometimes look at the tank for a short while, especially the female. Back in the day, I had an open top 90 that my mostly Siamese cat loved to sit on the arm of the couch and watch. We thought it was really cool - until the day he decided to try ta catch the fish - by jumping from the couch to the top of the tank. Had me a catfish for all of 2 seconds. Apparently he didn't like to swim. It was the one and lonely time he tried that particular move.

I had the tank for about a year before one of my dogs noticed it was full of moving fish. It must have been a lightbulb moment because since that day he stares them down and barks when they crowd the corner. Luckily that tank is downstairs now and he is oblivious to the nano in the living room.

She's harmless no nipping at the glass or anything just seams to like the movement. Now get a chipmunk or squirrel in front of her and she will loose her mind. That little mutt is one of the best tracking dogs we have ever owned, my friends and I have never lost a deer once we got her.

Ha! A reef so cool, even the dog can't get enough of it!

My goldens love the reef. Big enough (600 gal) that they can hop up on the ledge surrounding it and watch the fishies up close. I actually have a dog bed in front because the big one loves to lay down and watch the fish swimming around. Feeding time is especially fun, since all the fish come to the front when I open the doors to feed them.

Lol her name is elle, she actually can't stand the water. Our other two won't stay out of it. They for sure may have been fish in a past life.

My cats could not care less about the fish in my tank but one of them seems to get jealous of the time I spend working on it.. she gets on the table nearby and meows like crazy...

One of my cats ignores my tank but my other cat watches my freshwater tank. also my tanks are up to high for my dog to even see.

My Siberian Husky loves to watch the tank and chill!
