Ph swing

My ph during the day hangs out around 8.43 but at night it will go down to 8.18-8.23. Is the swing of ph like that harmful to anything or is that a normal swing? I have a fuge that run opposite light cycle as the dt.

No, that is normal.

My only concern about the pH swing is the low it hits, and below 7.8 is where I become concerned. :)

Randy is the expert and I am just a lowly everyday reefer that doesn't mind a smack down by Randy....but...my thoughts on pH...if your tank is doing fine, don't test for pH. Test for everything else frequently but don't mess with the pH, only sadness will follow for 95% of us.

I just go off of what my reef keeper says and calibrate it.

what lower pH? I noticed that my tank now ranges from 7.9-8.2. what I need to do to raise the 7.9? I dose Kalk with my ATO and supplement with 2 parts BRS Ca and Alk daily. 90 gallon system volume with Ca and Alk dose about 100 mL daily of each

I do not believe you need to raise the pH if it is only hitting a bottom of pH 7.9 :)

I have a question. Why does my ph rise to 8.47 during lights on and then It drops to 7.98 at night until my lights go back on. I'm using xr15pro with ramp up and ramp down. My peak is from 2pm to 5pm.

That is normal, and indicates that aeration is not perfect.

Photosynthesis during the day consumes CO2 and raises pH.

At night, respiration dominates, producing CO2 and lowering pH. :)
