Hi,

Has anyone any experience using phytoplankton in their reef, if so.. have you cultured your own? whats your experience using it ? how much do you dose?

should we not all be using it since it is the backbone of the ocean, and to promote a ' natural ' reef or are tanks /corals better off with minimal phyto/zoos.

im thinking about culturing phyto and copepods in my chaeto hob refugium.. whats your success with this?
! would like a mandarin in the future... after I see plenty in the DT!

I dose phyto in my refiugium every week or so about 1/2 cup. I just have a plastic tube ware container next to my fuge filled with phyto and a small pump. I don’t purposely culture them. It is way easier to just buy a bunch of phyto of amazon for $20 a month. The dosing helps keep my pod population at a good level. I eventually want a manderin too. My recommendation is just to buy some online every once in awhile.
