Hi Everyone,
I am looking into starting a phyto culture for the first time. I have a few questions. I have an old refugium Kessil H380 laying around, not being used. I was thinking about using it for phyto. I just joined a FB group that's centered around copepods and phyto. I asked my questions over there with no available. I noticed all of their lights are white/full spectrum lights, so this had me worried. Is there any reason for having full spectrum? Will the Kessil be too powerful? I was thinking of just making an acrylic top for a gallon jar and just sit the Kessil on top. Will this make a dead zone on the bottom and I would be better off lighting from the side of jar? Any info will be deeply appreciated, thank you in advance.

i think the h380 would be to much for phyto. i culture phyto and just use a white led bulb on a reflector.16 hours on 8 hours off. does great for my cultures
