So I have three containers of three different species of phytoplankton culturing. Also some refrigerated bottles. One of the three jars loses color and settles at the bottom just about overnight. The other ones not as much but this one the most. I have to shake it up and get it nice and green again, but that particular one settles a lot faster than the other two. Does that mean the phyto in there is dead? Should I just get rid of it? Also noticed some refrigerated bottles. Some of them will do the same thing so i’m wondering if they are dead as well?
I don’t know if using it if it’s dead is just a waste and actually adding more pollution for the tank. I mean, it doesn’t matter to me if I have to toss it, I have more live than I can use.
In the pic, you can’t tell as much right now because I recently shook the center one but by tomorrow it would be just a light green and the other two will be just about as dark as they are now.
