I have this purple serpent star that literally won't eat anything- I have had it for over a year, and it has slimmed a lot. It used to eat anything it could fit in its mouth (as it should) but now it still reacts to food and starts moving it towards its mouth then lets go of the food before digesting it. I really have no idea how it's still alive- it must be finding something to eat, but I'd like it to be nice and plump and healthy. Does anybody have any advice to get my starfish to eat?
It has a very normal reaction to phyto/aminos/food in the water, where it will come out and roam the tank. I currently soak the pellet food I feed in aminos and phyto for a few minutes before feeding my tank, a lot fo which is unconsumed by my fish or corals, leaving it to either my blood shrimp, the starfish, or one of the hundreds of spinoid worms I have in the tank. That is what I assume it's living off of. However, to try and get it to eat, I have offered it frozen mysis and krill, both of which it used to eat, but now it just leaves them there and goes back to its hideout.
