Why are my pincushion urchins eating some soft corals like hammerheads

Are you certain it is eating your soft corals? Pincushions are primarily algae eaters, sometimes detritus, sponges, bristleworms...
 
It was a small 3 head hammer coral

  • I leave plenty of open space for large future colonies
