Segment pipe on the sock silencer is intended for easy handling?

Welcome to r2r!
I dont quite understand the question...
Silencers use a perforated plate and tube. Without a holder(tube), it is not convenient to insert or remove a silencer.

Why do manufacturers make silencers with pipe?
I think, the hole in the tube adds an sound. If instead of a tube use a piece of rod or a thick screw.

Interesting idea! I have seen these around for about five years and the design seems to have stayed the same.

The reason this is done is if the plate clogs the pipe will not. Not everyone keeps an eye on there socks and if it becomes blocked you can have an overflow.
That is, if the holes on the plate are blocked, water does rise and pass inside the pipe?

yes but in reality they never do.... the socks on the other hand block as we know after a short time. Mine have been on for 4yrs and the silencers have never blocked, they do however reduce noise and water splashes amazingly well.

It’s a just in case thing. May not happen to one person but if it happens too you it would be important.
