just looked in the tank and my tiger pistol was shredding up one of my nassarius snails. Is this normal behavior or is my pistol shrimp evil?

Could have already been dead. Remember almost everything in your tank is a carnivore and will eat anything it can. I doubt a pistol shrimp would have gone after a healthy nassarius but it could have happened. Could have just died some other way and the pistol shrimp was eating its corpse much like the nassarius would do if it found a dead (or unhealthy) pistol shrimp

The snail was still moving when he was eating it

Or trying to eat it lol it looked like he was slamming his head into it

Probably dying though pistol shrimps are capable of stunning prey for short periods. Pistol shrimp has to eat.

I'm a bit late, but any pics of you shrimp? I've seen a bunch of places selling what I've taken to calling "False Tiger Pistol Shrimp," which may be more predatory than the "True Tiger Pistol Shrimp," Alpheus bellulus.
