So I am about to have surgery and will be on restricted activity for 6 weeks. So, I am trying to make things easier for the wife to handle.

I am adding a float valve to my acrylic ATO reservoir. This will have a murlock union with enough tubing to hookup to the rodi unit, so she won't have to do the fill and pump that I have been doing.

It will not be a permanent connection to rodi, just hooked up when reservoir is empty.

Question is how far away from the edges should I drill for the float valve?

The bottom third of the tape (picture attached) is where I was planning but am concerned about the weight of the valve cracking the acrylic, so anyone have a recommendation on where to place it?

Have you already purchased the float?
Eshopps makes a float you can remove with out drilling anything
I love mine!

Already purchased float valve, and surgery is Tuesday... I am a procrastinator.. Lol.

Oh, and the valve I have needs a 1/2in hole, if that helps anyone make a suggestion..

Thanks, I plan to start with a 3/32 and work my way up. Probably 10-15 progressive bit sizes over the course of the day..

Rule of thumb with tank builders is 2x the hole diameter from edges minimum.

Thanks, think I will do 2in from top and side
